The Digital Arts Entertainment Lab is a multimillion-dollar entertainment research and production facility located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Through industry and university partnerships, DAEL facilitates the creation and testing of digital media content. DAEL incubates emerging media arts businesses, trains graduate students and engages in academic research.

DAEL Symposium May 2nd

Thanks to all who participated in the Symposium. Stay tuned for updates from the and video clips of the talks.  A series of panels throughout the day brought in major new media legal scholars from Indiana, Drake, Santa Clara, and Georgia State universities.  In the afternoon some significant regional new media players (Jeff Longoria, president of CDC Games International; Jeff Blackman, director of business development at IQ Interactive, senior staff from Enfuse Group and SuperDeluxe) and other nonprofit figures working at the intersection of creativity and commerce (Scott Shamp from UGA's New Media Institute and Lisa Moore, the executive director of Georgia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts) made presentations.  And of course this is only a partial list of the participants who came through as the day proceeded.

Student Academy Awards!!!

Digital Film and Arts MFA candidate Micah Stansell was just announced as a Regional Winner and National Finalist for the Student Academy Awards! The award is in the Alternative category for his film A CONVOLUTION OF IMAGINED HISTORIES. There is no higher honor for a student filmmaker. This is an incredible achievement. Congratulations Micah!

GEBD is a non-profit media arts incubation initiative of the Digital Arts Entertainment Lab at Georgia State University. The mission of GEBD is to assist start-up businesses involved in the creation and distribution of entertainment content.

Within the context of the degree, students learn the aesthetic principles and technical skills required to create and analyze media. DAEL offers a high-end laboratory to facilitate research and production projects for graduate communication students.
